Courses for players, coaches and umpires

5/06/2008 11:11:00 AM
From Forbes Netball Association publicity officer, Robyn Kenny.

Forbes Netball Association will be organising three courses during June for all umpires, coaches and players.

The first of the courses will be a Level 1 Umpiring Course to be held on Friday night, June 13, from 7pm to 9pm and continued on Saturday morning from 8.30am to 10.30am (times could change slightly).

Cost of the course is $35 and a total of 15 must be attending before the course can run.

Names and money must be in by Monday next.

Please phone Robyn Kenny 6852-2951 after hours to book.

Umpires in Forbes are paid as soon as they obtain the Level 1 Umpiring Accreditation and pass the NSWNA Umpires Theory exam.

This course has not run in Forbes for a few years and will not be repeated for a few more years, so everyone is urged to make an effort this time.

If there are interested umpires who have a commitment Friday night, please speak to Robyn Kenny as Parkes will be holding a course on the Saturday afternoon, June 15, if they gain enough participants.

Umpires from the NSW Umpires Committee will be travelling to Forbes to conduct the course.

These umpires will then attend Saturday competition and coach all umpires, umpiring local games, throughout the Saturday competition.

There is no assessment required for the Level 1 Umpiring Accreditation.

The accreditation is gained by attendance.

A Foundation Coaching Course will be held in Forbes on June 22.

This is the only Foundation Coaching Course to be held in the region this year.

All Forbes representative coaches and assistant coaches must hold a Foundation accreditation.

All Saturday competition coaches ‘must’ attend the course on June 22.

Cost of the course is $90, with the Forbes Netball Association paying half the costs $45 per coach.

The standard of coaching will be greatly improved when coaches attend courses, which in turn, improve the standard of play.

This courser replaces the OTC, and anyone who has attended an OTC will now need to upgrade to Foundation.

It is also in the best interest of all local coaches to have a qualification when coaching locals.

The whole course will be conducted on the day and coaches will not need to complete the on-line module before the 22nd.

Two coaching books will be included in the costs.

A total of 12 participants must be attending before the course can run.

Numbers must be in a week before the course.

The Western Region Academy of Sport will be conducting free lectures in Forbes on Wednesday night, June 25 from 7pm to 8.30pm.

The lectures are for all coaches, umpires, players, parents of all sports in Forbes, not specific to netball.

This is the first time WRAS has come to Forbes to conduct lectures and a large roll up is needed.

Forbes has always been by-passed and to secure more lectures, a good response from all Forbes sports is required.

The lectures will be held at the Sports and Recreation Club and will include, Recovery, Acute injury management, Self massage, Speed and power.

All Forbes representatives and their parents are required to attend.

All Forbes players, coaches and umpires should take the opportunity to improve their skills, without the extra of travelling. It cannot be any easier.
