O'Meley charged, Sa escapes

8/09/2008 4:25:08 PM

Sydney Roosters prop Mark O'Meley has been charged with a careless high tackle from last Friday night's 10-nil defeat of St George Illawarra but he can escape suspension with an early guilty plea.

And in a boost to the Roosters hopes of beating Brisbane in Friday night's opening finals clash against Brisbane at Sydney Football Stadium, utility Setimaita Sa was not charged over an off-the-ball hit on Dragons backrower Ben Creagh.

Both incidents came under scrutinity from the match review committee, who had requested further camera angles of O'Meley's first half tackle on Jason Ryles to determine the point of contact.

The tackle left Ryles dazed but it was only deemed to warrant a grade one careless charge and if O'Meley pleads guilty the offence will attract a penalty of 95 demerit points, with 100 points equating to a one game ban.

Broncos hooker Michael Ennis was cleared of a "prowler" tackle on Newcastle's Kurt Gidley in last Friday night's 24-2 win at Suncorp Stadium and is also free to play.
